think it was stephen hawkins that that mentioned that it would be a bad thing for humanity if we got a visit from aliens. It would be highly likely that aliens would have no concept of death or pain or rules and law etc as we know it. He surmised that instant eradication would be most likely the course the alien would inflict upon humans. I kinda agree with his thesis.
